Any thoughts on the prospect of a 5G model?
The wi-fi card is replaceable and looks like a standard form factor, so when 5G chipsets make cards in that size practical, it should become a matter of a few screws and a software driver install.
Cellular requires a different set of antennas than WiFi, so it can’t be directly retrofit into the Framework Laptop. There is a potential path through creation of a cellular Expansion Card.

Would it be possible for the end-user to replace the antennas that are routed behind the display panel with ones that are designed for cellular (available via third-party)?
@Jordan - technically yes, it is fairly easy to replace the antennas. However most cellular modules require certification in the system. As the antennas and housing impacts the radiated power/SAR limits.
