Anyone else has misaligned heatsink on desktop motherboard?

Hello everyone.

I recently received my newly purchased desktop motherboard, and unfortunately, I encountered several issues right out of the box.

First, when removing the plastic tray from the packaging, I noticed that one of the tray’s corners had been pierced by the motherboard itself—the board was literally protruding through the plastic. This would have required a significant amount of force during packing or handling.

Second, the heatsink appears to be misaligned. It is not parallel to the motherboard, and the corner that corresponds to the area protruding from the tray sits approximately 2.5 mm higher than the other corners. I initially suspected that one of the mounting bolts might not be fully tightened, but upon checking, all bolts were securely fastened.

Given the misalignment and the resulting slight twist in the motherboard, I am hesitant to power it on. With a device that costs $1,699 USD, the last thing I want is for something to fail on startup and then be attributed to user error.

Has anyone else experienced a similar issue with the heatsink? Since it’s a custom design for this motherboard and also cools the memory, there really isn’t any alternative replacement option available.
I’ve already submitted a support request and am currently waiting for their response.

I had a similar issue, posted about it here FW Desktop heatsink not mounted properly?

Is yours similar? Maybe you can post some pics.

There were also some temperature problems, and some people saw upon taking the heatsink off that the plastic foil was not removed from the thermal pad.

PS: make sure to report it asap to customer support and send them pics so you have proof from the start, if something goes wrong.

and the misaligned heatsink. The ruler looks a bit odd—I work on a cruise ship, and it’s just one of the tools I have on hand.
