Has anyone tried vr on one of these? How was it?
Yes I tried it last night on my new framework desktop, under Ubuntu Linux. I have a quest 3 and ran it wirelessly using Wivrn. I was running a gaming laptop with a GeForce 3070. Tested in vrchat, it felt pretty smooth, and areas that I often had to reduce avatars and such were fine on the framework, the experience was fairly smooth.
Got me wondering if its a limit in vram. Never had that problem with a 2060, but maybe never met anyone with that heavy of an avatar. My headsets a quest2, so maybe less pixels to render and stream.
Either way, if the desktop is outperforming a 3070, thats solid! I think we can safely consider it good for VR. I was worried about the memory speed till I found out about the steam frame using the same lpddr5x.
Have been playing a bit more vr, running really smoothly in VR chat with all the avatar turned on , in situation where my old 3070 would stutter or stall, it was running pretty sweet. Been adding a bit more to the VR added Wlx-overlay, which gives me desktop acesss in vr. So far it has been an awsome experience
Now I want to try that! What headset and streaming setup are you using?
