ARM-based CPUs

Will it be usable without blobs soon then?

The MetaComputing ARM mainboard is an interesting step, but it leaves me with mixed feelings. My biggest concern is the kernel — it ships with a custom Ubuntu ISO, which means you’re relying on out-of-tree patches.

yes, we testing all the time as mainline. also check on Reddit - Please wait for verification

Always have a latest mainline patches while being upstreamed.

Hmm… I wonder if debian and devuan will add processor support for them soon once you are done.

Prefer the latter tho

Surprised such a new processor is going to be supported so damn soon

upstreaming acceptance is slow…rofl…

So I take it I should wait for rolling release distros and not consider stable at all eh.

Tha’ts how slow it will be I am guessing? Let me know if yes.

yes. and no. for new things, use latest kernel with sync patches, to experience how bad ARM did on upstream support.

Welp, given recent announce of Nvidia RTX Spark we now have one more possibility for an ARM CPU with decent performance in a notebook form factor.

Would Framework really look into it is another story… especially since the CPU part is almost two generations late at this point.

And incredibly expensive while probably still getting it’s ass kicked by pantherlake in most aspects.
