Ask Framework: Can you make basic shipping information / costs public?

Hi to the framework team. I’ve come across the need to just get a few expansion card but unfortunately shipping is exorbitant for just a few(basically 100% of the price of only the pieces i need). I don’t mind getting a few more to make up the price to get free shipping, but nowhere does it state what that number is.

I also noticed that you have a local entity now that likely does the stock keeping and the fulfillment, so why can’t you make your shipping cost public, as least for minimum purchases that are fulfilled locally?

Its annoying getting slugged for such high shipping costs + having to play around with quantities to figure out where the actual point is where the shipping cost is free. I know that laptops are likely shipped from overseas, but your last update on shipping fees is from 2021, and I’m sure your logistics set up is not the same anymore.

p.s. this lack of information is despite the website having my address + knowing which country I am in

edit: after messing around realised there is no free shipping, and the cost is one fixed amount despite the value / quantity of the order. I don’t see why this couldn’t have been made public in the knowledge base

Unfortunately, shipping costs have been a pain point for years now. Glad you updated your post because I got very confused myself wondering when Framework implemented free shipping :sweat_smile:

My feeling is that certain items have a ‘free shipping’ tag where if you have them in cart, you get free shipping. And if you don’t have them, you can’t pay any amount to get free shipping.

Here I have a last-gen Laptop 13 with minimal configuration and it has free shipping:

And here I have spare parts for 2 times more and it adds the usual shipping fee:

As i have noted, the shipping cost in my country is fixed for all spare parts countrywide for any quantity or value.

So really, the information in the wiki is outdated, at least in this region. Would be nice to have some indication upfront when i am shopping for parts.

Appreciate the clarification, my main issue is that the only part i need is less than the cost of shipping, and any optional items I want to pad the cart are not in stock locally.

Not the biggest fire the team is likely battling this week but i just wanted to put it out there that it would be a nice-to-have.

The knowledge base link you shared is correct. The shipping costs for a laptop are included in the price of the laptop, the rest has shipping costs.

The laptop and everything bundled with it is always shipped from Taiwan, everything else is shipped from region warehouses.

Also there’s no free shipping. They can hide the shipping costs in the article prices, but at the end, the customers have to pay it.
