Availability for Switzerland

To be honest, given how import tariffs are all over the place, it would be simpler for both Framework and us, the consumer, to pay the tariff on reciept. It’s what we are used to anyway, in Switzerland, for a lot of imports. Normally this is a downside to living outside the EU but this time it might help.

Would like to buy the framework desktop!

same here…

Any news?

We are used to pay tax while receiving the goods. Electrical there is no issue, as Switzerland accepts EU law. There must be another point, frame work does not communicate.

Up!!

Time to move FrameWork! Switzerland has accepts the EU law. No need to block shipping!

Hello Centurio,

We all wish that Framework could be everywhere globally, but that is not possible at this time for a number of reasons which have been explained in previous posts. If and when Framework does expand to Switzerland in the future, I hope you’ll consider a purchase at that time. We appreciate your interest.

Hi Ferret,

I don’t know what you mean. I have proven wrong the statements of Morpheus.

The only elephant in the room is this part of his response: …but there are additional regulatory requirements that only apply in Switzerland.)

This requirements are not clear to us. Point them out, as we (the voices in this thread) are locals and might have connections to the specific parts of the regulatory administration. So please, show us kind of motivations of your side FrameWork. We do want to support you but come out with the real problem.

Sometimes companies just can not get into the specifics.

I don’t know about Switzerland in particular, but getting approved is not always as straight forward as it seems. Politics, trade protectionism, the mood of your contact, sometimes corruption / bribery, these are some factors that can be at play. And if you wish to get approved, having a company representative publicly saying that things are slow because of roadblocks officials have in place, well that’s not going to endear to those officials. It’s not a way to speed up the process. It could kill your chance of ever getting in, at least without excessive time & money spent. In order to overcome the mistake.

Bottom line, Framework wants to sell laptops. If the forces at play were so, that they could get it to you faster, I think they would.

It’s certainly frustrating not the be able to buy Framework laptops directly, I know. But we’re never going to be inside & privileged to know every detail about issues with the process.

If anyone has connections with significant pull, well, reaching out privately would be better.

Seems your prayers have been answered:

our products are now available to ship to four additional countries: New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, and Singapore.

Nice now I don’t have to worry about how I’ll source a replacement battery once that decides to go spicy. Also might finally be able to get my hands on the 4kg hinges and maybe the new amd cooler.

Have a look at the alternative many are happy with:
US/ANSI keyboard with “US-International” keyboard layout (or some of the many varieties, I use AltGr). Far better than CH or DE layout (or even horrible FR).

Good to see FW selling in CH now ! It did take a long while though, given that CH is certainly a great market opportunity for FW.

I have a blank transparent ISO - printed swiss layout would be just a nice addition if I ever give my FW13 away or for recommending FW to other people who are not as tech-savvy like us.

I did engrave swiss keyboard layout with own font. But, not flawless. Let me know if you want the .svg or lightburn file. The errors are corrected.
