I got the same message for my batch 2 preorder with only a AI 9 mainboard
I believe you are correct in this. Though I don’t see why mainboard orders only would be affected. It is much less constrained for shipping than building full orders? Batch 1 should be batch 1 in my mind.
Meanwhile, I have not received this notice, nor has my payment been processed. ![]()
Same (STIIIILLL). Not a peep. Nada.
I was initially thinking “parts should go first,” too, but I was pondering a business-driven reason.
It might be in Framework’s best interest to get higher-ticket items moving faster than lower-ticket items (i.e. assemblies before components; whole Framework machines before mainboards) in the pursuit of hitting certain profit margins for the year. They’ve got investors they’re beholden to, although they’re not publicly traded and I have no insight into who owns how much of what. One of the companies I work for has the perpetual end-of-quarter rush to get everything expensive completed and/or shipped when we’re a bit short of the profit projections, so I’m partially imprinting that on Framework as they approach year end. The company I’m comparing Framework to is publicly traded and the justification for the need to meet projections is pretty evident.
HOWEVER, they’ve obviously been shipping GPUs, so that thought may be FULLY incorrect. It could be that the messages some customers are receiving about their “batch 1” GPUs shipping late tracks with my thoughts, but that’s absolutely an unfounded assumption.
It’s mildly nice to know that I’m not alone in waiting on a batch 1 mainboard and have not received any emails. Kinda. lol
Last night, I got the “delayed to December 8” email, but payment posted this morning. Just a heads up.
Payment just processed for me, batch 1 here.
Payment finally processed for me an hour ago.. here’s to hoping shipping doesn’t take another week. But we are now right up against the holiday so I wouldn’t be surprised.
Hell yeah, same. Movement!
Just got shipping number and email for the AI 7 mainboard. ![]()
I just got a shipping email for my AI 9.. huzzah!
my laptop was shipped but it’s been bouncing back and forth between japan and alaska
fedex has consistently been the worst shipper i’ve experienced
My laptop arrived yesterday morning, works great.
Though on linux, while everthing does recognize the 5070, nvidia-smi keeps not seeing a device, not sure why
Turns out the 5070 only works on Ubuntu-based distro’s with the nvidia open drivers (i installed 580-open), not the standard ones.
If anyone has the AI 9 with the 5070 and is willing to do a time spy bench mark, I would love to see the results just to satisfy my curiosity. Looking like I won’t get my mainboard until around the 1st of December since they waited the day before Thanksgiving to ship.
I bought the wrong RAM like a dummy, so I’ll retest once I have some 5600 RAM.
Thanks for that! And bummer on the ram, but it sounds like you already got a plan. How are you liking your setup?
Hey there! If you happen to have a new upgrade, it would be great if you could run the LLM benchmark when you have a chance. Thanks so much! ![]()
