Batch 7 - FW16 AMD-AI-300 - Guild

Creating a guild thread for Batch 7. I can’t wait!

I was lucky enough to order my RAM the same day I submitted my pre-order on 10/20/25. I got my 96GB RAM kit for $279 from B&H. That same kit is currently $592 as of 11/23/25. DEAR LORD, I probably would have canceled my pre-order if I hadn’t bought the RAM in advance.

My order:

Ryzen AI 9 HX 370
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070
DDR5-5600 96GB (2 x 48GB) - Crucial CT2K48G56C46S5 (purchased from B&H)
Samsung 990 Pro NVMe - M.2 2280 - 4TB (already owned)
240W Power Adapter
Orange Bezel
RGB US English (2nd Gen)
2 Orange Spacers
2 × USB-C (Translucent Orange)
2 × USB-A
1 × HDMI
1 x Audio

And I just cancelled few days ago similar configuration. Well, decided to see what Panther Lake will bring in January (~Ultra 300).

I like many ideas of Framework, but Team Blue needs some support and Panther Lake seems to be looking good.

What batch were you? I’m curious how many cancellations would need to happen to move me forward. One can dream!

I’m hoping for before Christmas but at this point, I don’t see it happening. We can hope!

Hi from Germany,
It feels like ages waiting for Framework 16 but I can’t wait!

My order is:

- Ryzen AI 9 HX 370

  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070
  • Crucial DDR5-5600 64GB (2 x 32GB) – purchased from Amazon with my Framework order. The price is now 100 Euros up.
  • WD_BLACK SN850X NVMe SSD 2TB (already owned)
  • 240W Power Adapter
  • Black Bezel
  • German (2nd Gen) Numpad Module
  • 2 x USB-C (Aluminium)
  • 2 x USB-C (Translucent Black)
  • SD
  • USB-A
  • HDMI (3rd Gen)

This is my first Windows laptop or PC since 2016. I’ve always been a Mac user but I need it for my studies and I wanted something future-proof.

This is mine! https://frame.work/nl/en/share-my-laptop?token=b3813ecb866

I took the RAM and SSD out because I’ll try get 128gb inside this thing. I’ll also stream a unscripted unboxing for this whole process!

I’m curious, how are you planning to fit 128GB inside?

By paying a lot of money for a 2x64 kit?

Crucial 128GB Kit (64GBx2) DDR5-5600 SODIMM | CT2K64G56C46S5 | Crucial.com by buying this (i think it is the only kit at the moment)

Yes that’s the one. I was more than ok with the 96 GB ram but if I get that much might as well max it out…

From what I heard looking around in this forum, it seems to work with other AMD boards and with the previous FW 16.

crucial has supposedly validated it for the framework ai 300 boards as per their compatibility tool too

I thought the RAM was limited to 96GB but good to know.

I can’t say for sure, because I wasn’t being able to try it yet. But working in ML this could be a interesting addition that I must try. I’m willing to take the bet, even if I can’t return the ram.

Either way, if you want to see it live, I can let you know when I’ll stream the unboxing XD

The 128 kits did work with the previous gen, since the memory-controller on the ai 300 chips seems to be a bit pickier than that it is not guaranteed it’ll work but very likely.

This is what makes me cautious and makes me wonder if I should get a lower specced RAM from Framework so I can at least have a baseline in case it doesn’t boot with the 128gb kit.

Edit: I updated my order to include a 8GB ram stick just in case bringing my own RAM become a disaster (oh boy, the fun of unscripted unboxings!). But it also makes support less of a hell in case it doesnt boot as then it wont with only Framework-supplied hardware

It was Batch 7

I specifically went with 96GB RAM so if I have issues with the device and are working with support, they won’t complain about officially unsupported memory config.

Good, please tell me (when you start using FW16) if your AMD fTPM gets *****d after few days of uptime.

See my topic for FW Desktop: TPM not working after longer uptime (Get-Tpm starts returning error 0x80284001) - #2 by sandie

Completely unacceptable thing for 2k+ computer. Is that popular AMD fTPM crap I am facing?

I have impressions that maybe some students are building hardware drivers for AMD. Hopefully they have taken over some Intel developers if I am not mistaken…

Unresponsive fTPM means for me simply non-working computer and I need to reboot to authenticate again to some services. But my passwords and passkeys are super-secure, because they are not available! :upside_down_face: (it drives me truly crazy!!!)

technically the AMD AI 300 supports 256GB but no one has modules that reach that.
