Hi All,
I have an early Gen 11 Intel based Framework, 13" screen etc.
This has been a won’t power up without mains power since day one.
Today though a new problem, attached mains, powered up, left for say an hour as busy without mains attached (as every boot resets UEFI and 100% charge) , on return saw screen Framework logo and running CHKDSK (few seconds) then Blue Screen (for say 5 seconds) then automatic reboot straight back into CHKDSK, and loops like this forever.
Somewhere along the way… a note saying “Preparing Automatic Repair”
Comment on two different Blue Screens which alternate !
- List item
**"Your device ran into a problem and needs to restart **
We’ll restart for you "
- List item
“We’re just collecting some error info and then we’ll restart for you”
Both are followed by CHKDSK, then one or other of the Blue Screens above.
Then loops forever (ok I didn’t wait that long), power button does turn it off.
F2 does get me into the UEFI BIOS
So ! As it was sitting for an hour, was this a Windows 11 update?
Or
Did something fail?
I have an external DVD drive and the BIOS is set to boot from USB, all I need now if the DVD I used 18 months ago and an attempt at a repair.
I am tempted to just take everything apart, disconnect main battery, etc. a bit like the reset procedure I have done in the past to get it to start at all, but the CHKDSK running makes me suspect that (Initial thought) Windows is corrupted the boot section of the SSD disk.
Thoughts welcome.
Regards…
