After resuming from standby, the screen brightness is always at maximum 100%, which is a nuisance especially during the night.
Looking at the slider in control panel that is still at e.g. 50%, the value set before standby.

Moving the slider to any other position sets the brightness properly, also F5/F6 instantly brightness goes back around the value set before.

When I shutdown or reboot the system, brightness setting is retained. Its just not working for suspend.

Any ideas where to look for?

This is fixed in the newer 6.17.y stable releases iirc.

I am on 6.17.0

You can try a mainline build.

@Edmund1 Did you find a solution to this? I have the same problem. Haven’t tried any kernel changes yet. AI 300 Series on ubuntu 25.10.

No, havent found a solution, and also as this is already being used and as not so experienced Linux user hesitated exchanging the kernel, I am waiting for 26.04 LTS to hopefully fix this issue.

It wonders me that noone else seem to have that problem or has noticed.

In the meantime I found out that also hibernate is affected by this bug. Only shutdown/restart will retain the brightness settings.

I’ve got the same problem, but it doesn’t bother me too much. I’ll wait for a fix to come through at some point.
