I’m new to the Framework usage of Discourse, am active in another instance which is a bit simpler in some ways, smaller, has only one admin who is very responsive.
I only visit on Linux and Mac laptops, both in Firefox, and have visited the Discourse site a few times to explore possibilities and I can see it is powerful and flexible and can be overwhelmingly complex for a new admin so I thank those who have developed friendly Discourse forums.
That said, I am struggling a bit here with too many emails on topics I wasn’t aware of following and the basic terminology, ie categories and tags and so on. The basic iconology and visuals of Discourse I like.
I thought I’d read the basic intro to the Framework Discourse and don’t recall reading a clear explanation of Categories and Tags and so on. Maybe I’m not yet used to a forum of this depth and don’t grasp the need for such indicators.
Specifically Tags, I found two older Topics from admins saying they will be required and such but not quite how to use them. There are references to tagging as being notes in brackets in a Topic title for its status ie solved, and references to needing to add at least 2 tags from a drop down list, which doesn’t appear in the title, and includes a seemingly random list of optional tags and no way to add the list.
Maybe I’m just being blind or just getting accustomed to this forum, but maybe this is useful feedback for @catastrophic .
