Could we pay preorders upfront in full?

Hey all,

I’d like to pre-order the Framework Laptop 13 Pro DIY. I know the standard process is $100 deposit now and the rest when it ships, but I’m trying to hit a credit card spend bonus before the end of June, and the September ship date for the current batch (12) puts the bulk of the charge outside that window.

Did anyone here have success in paying the full amount upfront at the time of order instead of waiting for the shipment charge?

Ask support nicely, maybe they will maybe they won’t.

I would strongly advice against playing the credit card game, I reserve judgement as I assume you now what you are doing.

I also reserve my support for exploiting rewards as they comms at the expense of sellers, in the form of processing fees.

In the UK, there are distance selling (e.g. internet) rules.
If the company charges the full price to your credit card, they have to deliver the product within 30 days or face fines.
Putting down small deposits early is permitted.
So, if FW accepted the full payment early, it would break the law in the uk.
This is probably why FW only charge right at the end of manufacture, so they can be 100% sure that no supplier to them will prevent delivery of the product within 30 days.

I think the only reason FW ask for a deposit is to weed out timewasters, so that they get a good measure of what the real demand is.
