Desktop PTM7950

hi. does the Desktop comes with PTM7950 Thermalpaste (below the preinstalled cpu cooler) ? because i have some here and the Questionen is … Is it worth disassembling the heatsink and applying new thermal paste?

It does not come with any. But why do you want to reapply it? First, check the temps, if they seem good, you shouldn’t worry about this for a few years.

lower temps → more Performance and lower fan noise! temps never can be too low…

I would poke around in this forum, the FD does not come with thermal paste but another type that allows for faster cooling when the CPU fan revs up. The fan itself is also custom at higher RPMs too.

I simply installed a front fan, if you are that worried about cooling, and my temps remains at low 40s. It used to be around low 50s before.

No… I meant the pre-installed CPU cooler. Which thermal paste does Framework use? And is it worth replacing it with PTM7950, if you happen to have some on hand?

From the specs page, the heatsink uses “Honeywell PTM7958 thermal interface” which I believe is slightly better than 7950, but is also a phase-change type TIM.

That’s what I wanted to know. I must have missed it. From what I found, PTM7958 is the same as PTM7950, but as a paste, not a pad. This probably makes application easier for the manufacturer. But anyway… thanks for the info.
