If i install the “RTC battery with cable” on the 7840u mainboard while still configured as a laptop, will the RTC battery function if hypothetically the main battery wasn’t reliably powering the memory that stores the bios settings?
Reason I ask is because a screw shorted a ceramic capacitor on my mainboard, after which i had issues with bsod, faliures to boot, bios settings often resetting to default after turning off the computer (not all the time but often), windows hello not working or forgetting biometric data. I’m thinking of getting the rtc battery with cable on the off chance that the issue is that the memory for storing bios settings isnt recieving reliable power from the battery due to the shorted ceramic capacitor.
