Feature request: integrated rear lift bar / ventilation stand

Hi Framework team,

I’d like to suggest an optional integrated rear lift bar for Framework laptops: a wide fold-out aluminum support built into, or attachable to, the bottom cover.

The idea is to raise the rear of the laptop by about 5–7 degrees to improve airflow, especially on soft surfaces such as fabric-covered tables, couches, or beds. It could also slightly improve screen height and typing angle for users who prefer that position.

A similar feature exists on almost every standalone keyboard: small fold-out feet are common because many people find a slight typing angle comfortable. However, laptops almost never include an equivalent option, even though they would often benefit from both the ergonomic angle and the extra ventilation space underneath.

Unlike small keyboard-style feet, I think a full-width rear lift bar would make more sense for a laptop. It would distribute the load better, be more stable on soft surfaces, and be less likely to break than two small feet.

Since Framework laptops are modular and repairable, this could be implemented as a replaceable part or an optional bottom-cover accessory. If damaged, users could replace just the lift bar rather than the whole chassis.

I think this would be especially useful for developers, AI workloads, long compile/test runs, workstation-style use, and anyone who wants better passive airflow without carrying a separate laptop stand.

Thanks for considering the idea.

Done right, such a bar, when folded in-line with the body of the laptop so it is sticking out the back, could be a carrying handle.
