Hi all,
I installed Fedora 44 as a bootable container on the second drive of my Framework laptop. No real surprise with Fedora, but everything just seems to work at the moment. I will be keeping it on my secondary drive with Silverblue on the main just in case there are any issues. But it is really neat having a file that can install and setup your whole system from scratch and be combined with Github/Gitlab actions to create automatic builds and updates. This does feel like a NixOS lite approach that is slightly more user friendly, though not nearly to the level of reproducibility and declarative structure that NixOS provides. Just wanted to share as it doesn’t seem a popular topic, with the exception of Universal Blue being based on a similar concept

Bootc is amazing. Highly recommend. I’ve been using bootc + Fedora since 2024. It just keeps getting better. Recent “bootc switch” of FW13 with Fedora 44 bootc with Cosmic desktop is the best yet for me.

Yea it’s been awesome. I have it on a second drive alongside silverblue, but I think I will just rebase since it seems to be as stable as silverblue and no issues!
I’ve been a silverblue user since 2020. I cut over on 2024 and never looked back.
The docker file image composition tools are a game changer. Bootc has all the positives of ostree but now with a user accessable tool chain so you can express whatever image config you need.

Yea I agree. And as one who has played with NixOS before it gives some similar vibes while being a little less of a headache!
