Five months with the FW 16 - Flaky

Sounds like we’re in agreement then. The lack of a product maturity journey in 1st gen products essentially sets a stage of “they don’t know what they don’t know”…and so, it’s not a matter of low bar…but rather no bar until an issue is found / known.

They do show a lot of learning from mistakes in some aspects and jet leave in some of the more obvious flaws like the literally underpowered usb ports, beefing up the circuitry so that every port can do 3A should not be a huge board change and would get a lot of the x usb-device doesn’t work with my framework to go away.

I can excuse (hell even applaud) walking into some unknown unknowns as long as they do get addressed.

The underpowered ports thing is, from what I read, an AMD thing, not a Framework thing. The Intel 13 boards don’t have that limitation, only the AMD boards.

It’s an amd on framework thing (and especially weird on the 16). It is something they intentionally programmed for reasons that have not been revealed to us.

There are plenty of amd based laptops that do not have this problem.

Granted having 4/6 usb-c ports does harder but that is probably something they should have considered beforehand.

I do have a few theories about why they did it but most of them are not good reasons to do it.

It was also an Intel on Framework thing as well awhile back.
