Framework 12 Keyboard stutter

I am not currently on WIndows with my FW 12, and I don’t think the OS has anything to do with this. Basically, I am noticing the keyboard occasionally is intermittent briefly at times. To me it seems like it could be a issue with the kb and the pogo pins maybe glitching due to movement, etc.

I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing this?

I am thinking that there is probably an easy 3d printable solution to ensuring the pins have a tighter connection. Just posting here to see how prevalent this might be.

I was having weird intermittent keyboard issues the other day. At the time, I was typing in a word processor, and every 10-20 seconds, it would simply stop registering key presses for a second, then start working again. Super frustrating. I’m running Fedora 42. No idea why, but I think it was a software thing. I ended up checking for updates just for the heck of it, and re-booting and it hasn’t acted up since.

The screw in the center of the underside of the laptop runs right next to the pogo pins. First place I’d start is to make sure that’s tight.

I’m dealing with this issue. I contacted support about it (and about a few other issues I was having, mainly with my input cover), and they’ve sent me a new input cover (and a display and hinge cause other issues). I would recommend contacting support and see what they think of it

so I’m allowed to tighten that reasonably more than the ones at the edges, which I’ll leave a tad loose to avoid the cracking issue?

There has been no official recommendation to leave any screws loose to avoid cracking. Personally, I would recommend folks just get all the screws appropriately snug. They are small screws in plastic, so they don’t have to be crazy tight. But at this point, I would say just snug all of them and if the case develops cracks, start a ticket.

I know in the cracking thread I said I didn’t tighten all my screws fully on my replacement sage unit. That’s just me experimenting more than anything. It’s not me recommending others follow suit, and Framework certainly hasn’t said people shouldn’t tighten all the screws.

I’m experiencing this too, on Fedora 42 and Manjaro. It happens usually when I use the device on my lap, if I put it on a notebook holder or use it at the table the problem disappears… maybe thermal issue?or the pogo pins? IDK.

I am having an issue with my keyboard, I’ve only experienced it twice so far, but what happens is, the bnm,./ keys are non-responsive, and one of those characters is in my password to login, first time I noticed was logging into windows.

What fixed it yesterday was applying slight pressure around that area between the trackpad and keyboard, and instantly the keyboard started to function again.

Try opening it up, taking out the input cover and putting it back in. I have a feeling that one of your pogo pins isn’t quite in contact with the motherboard.
