Framework 13 2.8K Display Ghosting

Hello, I recently received my Framework 13 Ryzen AI 7 350 w/ 2.8K display. I am running it on Arch Linux, but I do not think this is a Linux problem because this relates to the screen. The laptop has been great so far, but I am having an issue with my display and I can’t tell if it is just a “it is what it is” thing or a me thing.

There is serious image ghosting going on with my screen. Any game I play turns into a blurry mess, which is rather sad considering I only chose the Ryzen Ai 7 350 for the superior gpu. Whenever I’m reading white text on a black or gray background, it shimmers as I move the page.

Has anyone else experienced this with the 2.8K display, is this a defect of some kind, or what?

Edit:
I have uploaded a video comparing my Framework’s display vs my monitor. The video output and refresh rate were unified to be the same. This level of ghosting is kind of insane to have on a IPS screen. There is no point to having such a high refresh rate if everything speeds into a blur. Did I get a “bad” screen?

The screen does have some ghosting. I have the 2.8k paired with the AMD 7640U using Bazzite-DX KDE, but currently have the AI 9 board on order. I have used Fedora, OpenSUSE, Arch, and EndeavourOS on it as well and have noticed the same issue. I do have some slight vision issues, so everything is sometimes a bit blurry/ghosty to me anyway. I usually just leave mine on 60hz, as that’s what my other displays use, including the one for my desktop and the Xreal wearables.

I did the UFO test on mine at 60 and 120, and changed scaling and adaptive sync settings, but wasn’t able to tell much of a difference aside from switching between 60 and 120.

I have only tried a handful of games on mine and while I do notice some ghosting, I haven’t felt too bothered by it. Stuff like Stellaris, Factorio, Civ6, Civ7, Oxygen Not Included, etc.

I don’t recall trying anything like shooters on it, but then again I did wipe my drive and switch to Bazzite a few weeks ago, but I usually play those on my Steam Deck or desktop anyway.

I have the same configuration as you, did you solve the problem? Have you contacted the agency? Did they change your motor?

I accepted the display as it is. Honestly, you don’t notice it after a while. Some displays are just like that.
