Nope, got a reset last night ![]()
Oh bugger. Could be a completely seperate or an compound issue that you are experiencing.
I also have not had a single unexpected shutdown since relocating my HDMI slot to the upper left instead of the lower left (moving it closer to the hinges).
@Antti_Peltonen @PH_Tribe
Curious what BIOS y’all are running. Did you upgrade to 3.07? What BIOS did you have when experiencing the issues?
I was running the 3.05, now 3.07 and still problem free. At least this problem has not resurfaced since I switched the HDMI adapter to different slot.
I am on 3.06, but have not had issues since moving the HDMI port away from the bottom left slot.
It worked for me. I’m gobsmacked…totally and completely.
I had given up on Framework and was preparing to sell it. I can’t handle the sporadic reboots on a daily driver. And then I swapped the HDMI module to the back (toward hinge). Haven’t had a reboot in a month now in all power situations.
I have no idea how or why this worked and I don’t have the bandwidth to pursue this any further - I’ve spent hours (seemed like days) on this problem and no joy. And then this stupid 30 second trick [rolling eyes] and it behaves normally.
Thank you for posting this fix. I see it doesn’t work for everyone, but what the heck…it’s not like it’s any effort to try it. Best to everyone suffering with this and good luck!
I’ve been having the same, or at least a very similar issue, but unlike the many people in this thread who fixed it by moving their HDMI port, I’m not using an HDMI port, so I can’t try it. I’ve got a USB-C port in each of the upper slots and a USB-A port in each of the lower slots, running Arch Linux, kernel version 6.16.1-zen1-1-zen. Did anybody figure out something other than moving the HDMI port? The unexpected reboots are getting really annoying
Hi.
When you resume from sleep, is the PSU plugged in or not?
It might be more successful if the resume is done without the PSU plugged in, and then plug the PSU while it is already on.
In any case, it would be interesting to hear if it makes any difference.
Just as a data point here: I have not experienced this issue since about mid-march.
@Wojtek , could you repost your troubles in this thread? I know Framework support is actively watching it. Also be sure to open a ticket with support. That is the canonical way they count issues like these. They will probably ask you to do a bunch of troubleshooting. Please bear with them, as it is policy.
I’ve certainly had it happen with and without power being plugged in. I don’t think I noticed any relation between the issue and the PSU being plugged in
For sure!
Well, the last time I contacted support (about an unrelated issue), after some troubleshooting they told me that they do not offer support for Linux distributions that are not officially supported and to go to the forums instead, which I guess is fair. I assumed the same would happen this time around as well, so I didn’t even try
I run Arch Linux. It’s important to open a ticket regardless, especially if you can demonstrate your issue on a supported distro like fedora or ubuntu.
Moving the HDMI to another port worked for me as well. I’m running Bluefin and just updated the BIOS to the latest.
My setup is identical with those 2 type-c + 2 usb ports as well as Arch.
Today it happened to me for the first time and I’ve got my FW 13 for 3 weeks now. It was nearly 24h uptime when it happened and I just casually had it on my desk closed for maybe 1h
Interestingly there were couple of changes to the OS that I made very recently and before them I haven’t seen any situations like that (I open my laptop’s lid, expecting to unlock it, I see framework logo, what the heck is it booting?)
- I’m now booting linux kernel (6.16.5-arch1-1) with threadirqs option, according to Arch Wiki’s recommendation for helping with realtime scenarios.
- I configured my network printer by installing cups, avahi-daemon and enabling mdns in nsswith
I’m still getting this return from sleep reboot issue… Fedora user here, it’s been pretty intermittent, but has happened from day 1 that I’ve had my Framework 13” AMD
