Hey all, I’m eyeing the new Framework 13 Pro config with the Ryzen AI 9 370 HX and maxing it out at 64GB RAM. Before I pull the trigger, curious what the community thinks realistic battery life will look like.
A few things on my mind:
The 370 HX is a higher-TDP part than the standard AI 300 chips Framework’s used before, so I’m wondering how much that eats into runtime vs. the older Ryzen 7040/7840U boards.
Does going to 64GB (vs 32GB) make a noticeable dent in battery life, or is the difference negligible in practice?
For those who’ve used similar Ryzen AI chips in other laptops — what kind of real-world (not marketing) hours are you seeing for light use (browsing/docs) vs. heavier workloads (dev work, video, gaming)?
Any word on whether Framework’s largest battery option is enough to offset the higher TDP, or should I expect a step down from previous-gen mainboards?
Would love to hear from anyone with hands-on experience, early benchmarks, or even educated guesses based on the chip’s specs. Trying to decide if this config is worth it for someone who wants strong performance but still cares about all-day battery life.

The 13 is thermally limited so 350 or 370 probably don’t have too big an impact, especially if you don’t fully load them on battery.
If it’s anything like the 7x40u series (and it probably is since it is mostly a refresh), pretty negligle, especially at low load.
The tdp does nothing if you don’t use it, so it’s mostly a step sideways with like 10% more raw battery capacity.
Battery life wise the pantherlake option is probably going to do a lot better especially under low load but the ram for it is more expensive and it is still pretty fresh so you should expect more teething issues than on the older ryzen.
I’ve read that the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 with 64 GB of RAM gets about five to six hours of battery life under light use in the standard Framework Laptop 13. Would you expect the Pro version to get more or fewer hours?
Get a bit more battery and a screen that at least according to the one person here that has one uses a bit more power so probably about the same.
