# Framework 13 pro XPG Mars 970 Plus heatsink?

Going to install ssd it comes with “thin” heatsink should i install this with ssd or not?

I did install the ssd without the top heat sink.

You shouldn’t install according to the framework guide [Important notice for installing double-sided SSDs & avoiding SSD heat-spreaders](https://knowledgebase.frame.work/important-notice-for-installing-double-sided-ssds-and-avoiding-ssd-heat-spreaders-intel-core-ultra-series-3-HkiJisJBGe) which says “Please avoid using the optional heat-spreader if included in the box”
