Framework 16 crashes when using GPU after waking from sleep

I have issues with my Framework 16 crashing if I use the gpu after waking from sleep. Computer will run fine, but if I play a game or something that will kick in the gpu, it will crash and automatically restart the computer. After that I can use the gpu as normal. Now it’s technically still usable, but kind of frustrating that a computer I spent over $2000 on has to reboot every time it needs to use the GPU. I have the 7700S GPU module. Does anyone know if there’s a firmware fix for this?

There is mainly only other users like you on here.
Raise a support ticket with FW via their web page.
I do know that they are aware of the problem, so they might be able to give you advice regarding bios updates.
Be careful with bios updates, because there have been some reports of bricked laptops afterwards.
My guess is a bios update might help, but better to get that advice direct from FW.

If you do a full reboot, and then only ever hibernate where previously you would have used sleep, does the same happen? I agree it should all work OOTB, but maybe it’s worth a try, while you’re working out a fix.

I’m not really sure how to make it use hibernate rather than sleep. The workaround I’ve been using in the meantime is just always doing a full shutdown if I leave the computer unattended as a fresh restart doesn’t have the same problem

Try running powercfg /hibernate on. That seems harmless enough to me; it should make a hibernation feature available to you. It’s separate to sleep - it should save the machine state to disk, then cut power. When you turn the machine back on again, it should reload the exact machine state much faster than a regular reboot.
