Framework 16 EDP cable keeps coming loose

I started having terrible display flickering, driver crashes, followed by a black screen on boot. After trying a bunch of things, I tried pulling and re-seating the display cable on the motherboard. Worked perfectly for one day. Today the flickering has started again. Am I going to have to tear down past the midplate and fix this cable every day? Is there something I could be doing wrong?

I’ve only had this thing a couple of months, and it’s been great until now.

Try putting a dab of hot-glue on it.

Edp has a retention lever that really should not come loose itself. If you want to make extra sure you can tape over that with capton tape or something which should make it reeeally not come loose in any reasonable scenario.

Unfortunately it does not have such a lever, this one is just press-in pull-out. I suppose I will have to try taping it down.

Interesting, they used a different connector on the mainboard side. The display side definitely has the usual retention lever but the board side may indeed not. Still probably should not come loose as frequently as it does in your case.

It is possible the little spring tabs in the connector are weak. You could experiment with putting a little piece of capton tape (or just a small piece of clear scotch tape on the back side of the ribbon cable to help it press against the spring tabs. Maybe that will snug it up and keep it fit in there?
