So I have been trying to make my eGPU work with my framework 16 for months, essentially the gpu is not communicating. I have the ai7 350 processor, I have the graphics interposer and the dual m.2 adaptor, occulink adaptor from kyle tuck. The dock is the minisforum DEG2 and ive tried multiple gpus. I have tried using occulink and thunderbolt on arch, fedora, and windows 11. Over occulink i get no communication whatsoever but the dock will turn on and off with the framework 16. Over thunderbolt i can actually get internet passthrough from the dock to the laptop, on linux I will get popups every second of it trying to connect, on windows i get the chime of plugging in and disconnecting a device instead.
At this point i’m starting to think the dock itself is faulty, anyone have anything else I should try or something obvious that I am missing?
i really appreciate that info, i’m going crazy testing things, unfortunately i ordered mine straight from minisforum, hopefully they will still let me return it.
Yeah, if you can get some more feedback from other users - who knows - for me it may have been a bad cable mixed with some interesting thunderbolt issues with blackwell cards on linux
I still have your adapter - hoping to find a decent occulink dock eventually to test it out!
I don’t know if there is a theme developing?
Intel devices tend to not be compatible with AMD mainboards.
E.g. intel wifi be200 and now the deg2 that uses an intel chip.
Neither AMD or Intel wish to spend any time working out why they don’t work together.
The only pattern i can see is: be200 works on Intel cpus and ARM cpus and RISC-V cpus, but not AMD cpus.
We have seen the DEG2 having problems with AMD cpus, but i don’t think anyone has tested the DEG2 on ARM and RISC-V cpus.
