Framework 16 No Longer Take Charger from 180W charger, but will take charge from my iPhone USB-C charger. The 180W Charger will charge my iPad and iPhone no issue, even through the USB-C expansion card

I have seen a lot of threads on using the long press on power button and unseating the battery. None of that seems to be working for me.

The situation is as followed:

  1. The 180W charger does not charge my FW16 regardless of using USB-C slot (1, 2, 4, 5) that I have tried.
  2. The 180W charger will charge my iPad and iPhone no issue. Even through using the USB-C expansion card.
  3. The FW16 will charge under an iPhone USB-C 20W charger (the LED will light and leaving the laptop plugged in for a long time will charge to full).

Any other suggestions? Should I open a ticket at this point?

I would recommend opening a ticket.
You could maybe try performing a mainboard reset (unfortunately I have no clue how to do that on the FW16).
If that doesn’t work, it is likely a hardware issue that will need a replacement.

Is the 180w charger you mention one provided by FW or a different one?

This is using FW provided charger.

Definitely open a ticket with Support. It is still under warranty.

Presuming it was also tested with the an alternate high quality cable (though not necessarily a 240W rated one) it should still be able to charge albeit at a lower current rating.

While not common, a few power adapters have been bad from the factory and some have developed issues over time. Support will get you setup with a replacement. At least the power supply died and not the charging circuitry on the mainboard! :zap: :electric_plug:
