Would there be a way to power a desktop graphics card using the mainboard if the required wattage was low enough?
It’s rated for at least 100W, so in theory I’d say yes, as long as “low enough” is no more than 100W. In practice? You’ll have to ask someone more familiar with the specifics than I. IIRC, the base PCI-E connection supports up to 75W. So, you’d likely be limited to GPU’s that don’t have dedicated power PINs if I had to guess.
the PCIE slot can only provide 75W so you CAN power some SFF GPUs. I will release more info once i can get the board functional
What would be the best card within the limits? I cant seem to find many good sources for that
4060 SFF but you would have to manually lower the max power, RTX2000/RTX4000 SFF
Okay, thank you
found a major flaw in my PCB. I flipped all the pad IDs on the PCIE edge connector so they were on the wrong side (top was on bottom and vise versa) This caused the 12V short that i was seeing…
Sorry to hear, but all learning opportunities! At least you’re able to troubleshoot and problem solve.
