I wouldn’t be too concerned about the L1 Tech results there. For whatever reason he had some major differences in his results. Or what would be your rational explanation for basically the same EVO-X2, just with half the memory, being substantially slower? I can’t think of a good reason other than bad luck in the silicon lottery or some setup, OS related issues.
GMKtec had systems already available when no other desktop Mini-PC vendor had them, other than HP (which is selling the Pro version). I doubt they sell better batches than Framework but you can be lucky in both cases. With the 395 it matters because energy efficiency directly translates into performance as the power limits are tight, even if you use the max settings, especially when the iGPU is in heavy use.
I have a Framework Desktop running on Linux and so far I am pleasently surprised with its performance. Especially in games it is actually better than I expected, even though my system is running on 100W sustained (granted, with -40 mV undervolt on the CPU).
