I’ve seen several threads discussing turning spare displays into external displays (this linking several) but nothing references the 12’s touchscreen.
I’m wondering if anyone has been able to get the 12’s touchscreen and styles working as an external device for use as a drawing tablet? It’d probably end up being on par in price with the already existing 12" display tablets but it being both repairable and upgradable would be nice.
I’m currently not in a position to go about R&Ding this myself right now but if no-one’s done this yet or picked it up in the next year or so I may get around to doing it myself when I finally have the money and time to do so.
Hey, I’m the guy who made the thing you linked to. I don’t actually have a FW12 but I could give some insights.
The panel seems to be a -A42 variant of the BOE NV122WUM. (very detailed specs of a slightly different -N41 variant here). I assume you already found this thread?
If I search for driver boards for this specific model on ebay, I don’t find any, but I do find ones for the NV133WUM. That’s a 13" panel that looks very similar. It has the exact same resolution and some variants of it (named -Txx) are is also a touch panels. However, none of the driver boards seem to connect to the second connector for the digitiser. So touch wouldn’t work at all.
I’m afraid that means that someone (you?) will have to make a custom driver board for that purpose. If you do, that would be very cool!
