How long does the bios update from 3.18 to 3.20 meant to take? Is the laptop meant to show any response (eg. capslock)? Seems mine has hung on the second blue dot, not sure what to do
As of today, 3-4 others are also reporting the bios update crashes resulting in bricked machines:
I’m trying to update the BIOS of my Framework Laptop 13 (AMD Ryzen 7040) from 3.18 to 3.20 with the EFI shell update. But the update process seems to have stalled.
What I see is a black screen and a progress bar with 2 dots and then the Framework logo.
The progress bar is not moving for about 3 hours now.
Also I can’t turn off the Framework using the power button, no matter how long I hold it down. Now the BIOS update is stuck and I can not power down or reboot the machine.

I tried to update the BIOS on my Framework 13 7840u mainboard on Windows 10 from version 3.3 to 3.18 but after restarting it displayed the following screen and has been stuck there for an hour. I can’t turn it off either as it doesn’t respond to short or long pressing the power button. Is there anything I can do other than disconnecting the battery, which will probably brick the mainboard?
The update screen doesn’t seem to be displaying correctly, I tried a 4k TV and 1080p projector.
