Framework Pro 13 Chassis with Intel Ultra Series 1: No Trackpad and Wifi/Bluetooth

I was lucky to get my order from my Framework Laptop 13 Pro, unfortunately I have an issue with the mainboard that makes it unsuable until I get a replacement unit from Framework.

Until then I decided to put my intel ultra series 1 125H I used as a home server before into the pro chassi to have a working computer until the issue is solved.

I first installed Ubuntu 24 had issues with the powerlight led, the Wifi/Bluetooth, the trackpad, the touchscreen not working. After updating the Bios and going for Ubuntu 26 I managed to get the powerlight led and touchscreen to work.

I’ve tried trouble shooting as best as I can the Wifi/Bluetooth and the trackpad to no success. I have checked the internals several times that everything seems to be properly plugged in and yet the trackpad and wifi/bluetooth seem completely undetected on Ubuntu.

Any idea what am I missing and how to solve it?
Cheers,

I assume the touchpad would be a I²C-HID device. What do you get for sudo libinput list-devices? You’ll likely get 10 or so devices listed here, the relevant one might look like this:

(This is on the Pro though, yours might differ slightly).

Thank you for answering and helping me figure this out.

Here below is the result.
The Logitech is the Mouse I am using.
The Wirless Radio Control must be my phone on shared connection.
The ImExPS/2 Generic Explorer Mouse is weird though. Could it be that the trackpad is detected but not properly seen as a trackpad?

So an update in regards to Wifi/Bluetooth. I seem to detect properly the Wifi card but I am missing the proper firmwares. I cloned the git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git to check which firmware are present there.

From my understanding I need iwlwifi-ma-b0-wh-b0-89.ucode and ibt-0180-01a1.sfi but it is not present on the repository. Could someone that has it share me the firmware folder so that I can manually install it and potentially solve my issue?

Ah, I thought the CSW1322:00 3558:14FD was your trackpad, but the size indicates it is probably a touchscreen.

It might be worth doing an lsusb as well, to see if there are devices on that subsystem.

I think this is the firmware download portal:

Although I expect you can also use fwupdmgr too.

Here are the result:

lsusb

Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub

Bus 003 Device 008: ID 18d1:4eeb Google Inc. Pixel 9 Pro Fold
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub

It doesn’t seem to show there or maybe it’s under Intel Corp.?
I have no clue if there is something wrong hardware wise of not on this.

For this I am very confused.
I am on this bios version and up to date:

It’s looking for iwlwifi-ma-b0-wh-b0-89 and fails to find them.

if you used the new wifi card from the ultra 3 motherboard, it won’t be compatible with older motherboards as it uses CNVio instead of standard M.2.

Oh that’s unfortunate, does that mean there is no solution to my issue then?
Only to get a new ultra 3 motherboard?

Because my understanding is this:
I am actually using the new Intel Core Ultra Series 1 motherboard and the CPU detects the card perfectly. My lspci shows Meteor Lake PCH CNVi WiFi and dmesg explicitly reports Detected Intel(R) Wi-Fi 7 BE211 320MHz alongside its crf-id and cnv-id.

The system only fails when it tries to inject the proprietary firmware into the card (it requests iwlwifi-ma-b0-wh-b0-89.ucode which isn’t in the public linux-firmware repo). So it simply looks like a missing firmware to make everything work. But maybe I am missing something?

as far as i’m aware, the cnvio connector is the same physical connector as the old m.2 wifi cards, but on the cnvio cards, only the radio is present. i’m not sure whether the ultra 1 series motherboards have support for cnvio since i haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere.
