Framework supporting far-right racists?

Fascist sympathizers should be alienated. If you find such a policy offensive, look in the mirror.

Not really familiar with whats going on with Linux, but I moderate a mid-size discord server and generally speaking, if people arent really bothering others, I couldn’t care less about ones viewpoints. People may think what they want, just, live and let live I suppose

Otherwise we are basically just banning people for what they think

Maybe the meaning was lost due to language and cultural barriers?

I’m a white person and I can never be a ā€œnative Britā€.

This is an easy viewpoint to have if you’re not used to being attacked or hated simply for being who you are.

I’m not saying we should purity test everyone—you’re arguing against something I didn’t say—but there must be some cutoff. We live in a time of rising far-right authoritarianism, and of increasing scapegoating of immigrants and minorities. DHH is a public figure who loudly promotes such things. Framework should not be promoting him in return.

Wow. DHH is even worse than I thought. He literally defends Andrew Tate, a rapist and human trafficker:

Yeahhhh… I find that even more damning than the London article. Like… Andrew Tate? Really?

No, he’s explicit about it. He complains about how not-white London is, wants that corrected (only one way to do that), and praises Tommy Robinson the out-and-proud fascist all in the same essay. He’s just not hiding it.

Almost everything you just said is a fantasy, not true…. Just saying.

More libel. I could express my political ideal here and I am quite sure you would abhor them, but my politics are not relevant to the topic of framework. I don’t think yours are either.

Do you think if I went to whatever discord server this attack is being coordinated from I would be granted a thread to express my political ideals and how the community there was harming them? Or would I be banned and deleted faster than I could get a second post off?

How is coming here to attack a third party any different? A question was asked and answered. What is the purpose here other than to stir more hate?

Go read DHH and Omarchy: Midlife crisis – Rust in Peace and follow the links. Read what he wrote. Challenge your assumptions. I’m on very firm ground here. DHH is an Islamophobic, xenophobic, transphobic, racist apologist for fascists, rapists, and human traffickers. I can prove every last bit of that, but you should read that post and do your research first. He literally defends Andrew Tate many years after he was investigated for rape. Come on.

I’ll pass, but thanks. I don’t have the time to research all that. All I know is he makes an awesome Omarchy that contains none of that naughty stuff, so I couldn’t care less about the man’s personal beliefs.

ā€œThat frustration was on wide display in Tommy Robinson’s march yesterday. British and English flags flying high and proud, like they would in Copenhagen on the day of a national soccer match. Which was both odd to see but also heartwarming.ā€ —DHH

ā€œRecently, a projection that Danes would be a minority in their own country by 2096 caused an enormous stir in Denmark. Politicians across the spectrum decried what a catastrophe that would be for this world’s oldest continuous monarchy. But a demographic nightmare worse than that has already enveloped London!ā€ —DHH

Not libel. His own words.

Exactly. You’re not personally affected by people like DHH, so you don’t care that Framework promotes him and normalizes him, and you don’t care to learn anything about it. Gross.

You’re absolutely blind to your own privilege. If you were part of one of the many groups maligned by the far-right, you’d surely feel differently. Must be nice.

I’ve realized these days, when someone calls another ā€œfar-rightā€, it just means ā€œnormal humanā€.

I scanned over the article, I can’t really read all of it because its so much political stuff and I dont really like political stuff. I rather build something myself than break down something of others.

another-passenger, if you are attacked personally by someone then you have every right to bring this up and make others aware of it. But I don’t see how an entire organisation should be the talking point (in any case) when there’s people working there with different believes than yourself.

Forgive me for being unpopular here, but how dumb I find it to talk about ā€œwokeā€ being the evil like DHH does, I feel anyone should be allowed to talk about what they want as long as its not harassing anyone specifically.

Organisations aren’t just 1 person that aligns with your views, its a group of people and it will never fully align with your viewpoints. By excluding people because of what they say outside of their organisation, to me, makes it just as bad as racism.

If you think they are wrong, prove them wrong by being the good person you are!

We can’t accept eachothers differences if we all have our own little group, where we are proud of who we are while at the same time despising ā€œthe other sideā€. That kind of behaviour, whether it comes from left or right wing, is exactly what populist political parties thrive on.

Now, I’ll go back to building stuff, but uhm, I wish everyone good luck

I’m currently looking into ormarchy (never heard of it until now) I spawned a Arch linux in Virtualbox on my old gaming laptop in anticipation of the Framework 16 pre-order, and I really want to set up a HyprLand desktop because it looks like you can do some awesome stuff with it.

While I dont plan to install his distribution and prefer to keep it to plain Arch, I still hope to learn from it

People like DHH don’t affect you, so you don’t care. Got it. ā€œPolitics, eww.ā€ What privilege.

They. Are. Promoting. Fascist. Sympathizers.

I’m pansexual and have a boyfriend so he kinda does. As long as you can just not look at what he’s writing I don’t see a point at being offended.

If he wants to exclude me because I’m pansexual then that’s his lesson to learn, but I’m not going to exclude him because he wrote a post about private schools making his kids gay.

I - genuinly - hope that I can be one of the people where peace begins with, but one can only hope

Enjoy exploring Omarchy. I found it was a good way to test out hyprland with some somewhat sane defaults. I don’t use it as my main OS yet, but it’s installed alongside my daily arch install on my FW16.

Speech has real-world consequences. I don’t care about being offended. I care about being persecuted. You’re ignorant if you think what has happened before can’t happen again. This is what growing support for fascism looks like. We need to stop it now before it is too late. People like DHH must not be normalized.
