As far as I’ve been able to find, batches 1 and 2 got their shipment emails/cards charged between two and three weeks ago, and they have been getting delivered since then - with the exception of at least one person in batch one who has not even received an email for a mainboard only order. No word of any kind for batches 3 and later.

I had ordered the standalone Ryzen AI 9 motherboard, as well as the RTX 5070. The RTX was already delivered awhile ago, but still waiting on the Ryzen.

I got an email on Nov 16 saying it was being prepared, then got another email on Nov 25 that it would be delayed until the week of Dec 8. No new email yet for that. I’m in batch 2 for the Ryzen.

Came up with this theory re the delays today, based on my experience with manufacturing and supply chains:

Since ~batch 3 (production) prices probably have gone up, so to deliver against current retail prices they’ll need to scale up their own internal production batches - because this way they can get a bigger discount at their own suppliers and OEM plants which they can use to keep the retail prices at their current level and still have a somewhat healthy profit margin for themselves.

Unfortunately this also means delays, because they’ll need to purchase, produce and ship larger quantities.

They could ship 3 to 9 all at once, but my gut feeling says they broke it up in two chunks.

My guess is that 3 to a part of 6 (so 3,4,5, and a chunk of 6) will be shipped mid december (this or next week).

and that the rest of 6, and 7, 8 and 9 will be shipped end december (between christmas and new ears eve).

Let’s see if I’m in the right direction.

Also note that if I’m in the right direction they can’t keep doing this forever because ultimately market prices will rise more than the discounts can cover, so I think a (small?) price increase will be applied somewhere next year.

(also note that for Batch 10 and 11 they don’t mention any dates… just “Q1”)

you have to start manufacturing months before deliveries i can’t see them being able to lump batches like that in response to things happening in the market in the last 2ish months let alone 3ish weeks since batch 1+2.

They might be trying to ship more computers at once for some cost saving there but i actually kind of doubt that will be the case given past launches from them.

Framework doesn’t have the best track record with shipping things in a timely manner i think that’s all there is to it, i got a bit hopeful when batch 2 and 1 emails came out simultaneously but i don’t feel very hopeful for anyone getting anything until the very end of the month at this point and i doubt it will be more than 2 or 3 batches.

I think framework really needs to consider (or maybe, consider again) creating an official batch tracking page. In my opinion any update would be better than nothing, but I recognize that they might be worried about how customers react to bad news.

It’s hard for the silence to not feel deafening when we know that they are reading threads like this, and still not saying anything.

I do want to give them the benefit of the doubt, because batch 9 (the last batch that they said would ship in December) only sold out two or three days ago, and I want to imagine that if that was not at all in the cards they would’ve been responsible enough to not continue to promise that.

Mass production yes.

But to me this whole scheme currently looks more like BTO/DTO which is an entire different beast (e.g. you get a number of orders, you get those orders ready and deliver them)

If they are in fact mass producing the F16 refresh in China/Taiwan more than Batch 2 would be fulfilled by now given the size of the production lines there.

Unless something is very wrong.

Batch 6, order date: September 30

Cpu: Ryzen™ AI 9 HX 370

Expension Bay shell, I’m probably going to use eGpu in the future, idk yet, so no dGPU.

Us Keyboard (RGB), 2x LED Matrix, etc.

It’s my first Framework product.

I ordered memory & ram separately:

  • Crucial 2x 32gb kit ( I was a little late, compared to current price I would consider it not too expensive)
  • WD black SN850X (2tb)
  • Sabrent Rocket 2230 (1tb)

All waiting for my precious Framework laptop

Btw I got the dBrand Ultramatte Teardown

Shipping country: Germany

it is DTO only after they mass produce the parts, it’s not like the boards are off the shelf parts, they need to assemble all of the main boards, graphics adapters, expansion cards, and shell components. They already had the main bodies and expansion cards from gen 1 but the mid plates and the PCBs are new and as such have to be produced and it takes months to source the components and have them delivered to the assembly line.

Yeah, but then we still should be told what the f happened after Batch 2 and what the actual wait time is. Because whatever they put on the order page obviously is way off and incorrect.

I planned to replace my half broken laptop this Christmas. But it looks like it will become a lot later than that.

I only ordered the board for Batch #2 and still waiting on email

Ordered the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 main board only

BATCH = 2

no email and no charge to my credit card yet.

but first they need to ship Batch #2. I am still waiting for shipment email and charge on my card for Batch h #2 (November). I ordered the board only (barely missed batch #1).

Order date: 2025-12-09
Batch: Batch 10 (purposely waited until it left December)
CPU: AI 9 370
GPU: Expansion bay + 5070
Memory: 2x32GB
SSD: None
Keyboard: en-UK, Numpad
Expansion cards:
    2x USB-C
3x USB A (one will go to my desktop to swap for a USB-C there)
    1x HDMI
1x Display port (I'll switch the HDMI and DP adapters as required)
1x MicroSD (Will drop in a d out in place of a C or A port as needed)
Power supply: 240W UK

I hadn’t realised that seemed to be a bit behind with shipping units and didn’t want to risk it trying to arrive whilst I was out of the country for the Christmas period which is why I waited until batch 10.
