I find the same thing. Overall, I think it is fairly crisp, with good blacks and good contrast. But the colors seem off. Mostly reds. Some shades of red are shifted orange, even after running a calibration.
thatās mildly concerning for me, i knew the colors werenāt going to be amazing but that seems really off. i was really hoping i could use this for drawing, and thisāll make it at least more difficult
If anyone at Framework is reading this, a more color-accurate display for the FW12 would be an excellent upgrade to have as soon as possible
Iāll put up with it for now since Iām very casual when it comes to my creative hobbies on a laptop, but it could be a big issue later down the road if itās not addressed soon
A premium 2-in-1 would be great, but I think for the FW12ās intended market and intended use the display is probably going to be fine. Someone will probably publish a color profile thatās close enough for the majority of these panels, and thatāll help some. (Iām surprised Framework doesnāt; every unit is going to be different, but you can sort of rough it)
I should clarify- I donāt want a higher quality display to become the only screen on the FW12 and drive up the base price. I would just like it to exist as an optional, separate part for people that want the FW12ās form factor for color-accurate creative work. The internals and everything else can stay the same
Got my framework 12, Nice!!!
Mine is sitting 30 minutes away, unfortunately not available to be picked up. It is slated to be delivered on Monday. I should be more calm about it, but I feel like a kid waiting for my birthday or Christmas. Monday will get here soon enough. Yeah, thatās the ticket!
What, yāall donāt remember all the times the weekend just flew by while you were having fun?
Are you in the US and is it shipping via FedEx? What kind of FedEx shipping is being used? This is my first pre order for firmware and it seems they are shipping using faster delivery.
The weekend wait sucks but before you know it, itll be in your hands on Monday and youll lose 1-2 days getting it perfectly set up and then all the playing around with it.
In the US, I believe the shipping is FedEx international priority, weekday delivery. I will be able to get more work done in the yard, as Iām sure if it were here I would be geeking out fiddling with it.
Oh so its coming directly off the line instead of a US based warehouse, wow. I wasnāt expecting Framework to be able to do that much volume from Taiwan without it costing them an arm and a leg for shipping.
Thanks for the info, I hope my batch 1 that was charged and āpreparing to shipā ships tomorrow (sunday) or monday so I can have it before the holiday weekend.
Would love to set it up while watching booms and sparkles
I had payment collected a couple of days ago but havenāt gotten a shipping notification; I suppose I might have just missed the weekend cutoff. Iām probably at or near the tail end of Batch 0, so Batch 1 is nearing (but thatās just me speculating, I have no idea what the game plan is)
A bunch of us early batch 1 saw payment confirmations thursday night / friday morning. My āpayment completeā email came on friday morning at 9:03am and I preordered before the sale was āliveā.
All this to say that Framework is MOVING a shit ton of fw12ās and its great to see.
Well, it sounds like batch 1 folks got their payment emails ahead of me, so I guess thereās no hard separation between batch 0 and batch 1-- I bet theyāll ship on Monday AM (or overnight Sunday from the POV of the US). If youāve got 90 laptops ready to ship and only 40 people left in batch 0, the first 50 people in batch 1 are gonna go at the same time. Makes sense.
If someone has a colour shipping out other than black or grey, let us know.
Batch 0, Team Lavender here (incl. Lavender keyboard). Iāve been checking my email a bit compulsively but nothing so far. Iāll update you guys when I get a preparing to ship or shipping email. Hopefully not long now; Iām excited!
Batch 7 here, Bubblegum with lavender keyboard.
I am a fly on the wall with a notepad.
I 100% second this, along with a higher refresh rate display.
High refresh is great for drawing, not just gaming.
Machine arrived. Set it up, after a few boots it no longer recognizes the fan as present. I do see the fan spin up when power is first turned on. Off to open a ticket with Support as well as to see how to do a mainboard reset. Stuff happens, hopefully it gets resolved quickly.
