FW12 Batch 8 Guild

I’'m 99% sure it wasn’t there, I inspected the laptop before doing anything with it to make sure nothing was broken. Though I did pay more attention to the internal parts

And the package itself wasn’t banged up so I don’t think transport was the issue

I flashed an distro onto a usb and my bestie installed everything herself  She did find it odd to find a “Scan to get started!” Qr code with the stickers that only direct one to the Framework 13 install guides, but she found the 12 install guide.(ive contacted a socialmedia person about it already) Shes liking both the FW and the Linux distro

FW12+FW13 gang  (i might need a new top cover or stickers like @Kings )

Got mine, loving it so far. Battery life isn’t great and isn’t terrible either, and the reds on the screen really do look orange but other than that it’s a great little laptop. Both of the issues I mentioned are not very big issues for me personally anyway.

Hopefully down the road they will have upgrades to all the major components (screen, main board) but im looking forward to having a repairable portable that I dont have to worry about carrying around and accidentally damaging.

Got mine as well, set it up running with Bluefin without issue (well, other than being rusty with Linux). I still have a first gen FW13 with the original hinges so I was surprised how much more force it took to open the lid.

I’m hoping I’m gonna have the same experience. I was like the first to receive emails in my guild (9), but while everyone else has received shipping, I have not. :person_shrugging:t2:

Does anybody from this batch see high temperatures on the bottom side of the laptop after 2-3 hours of moderate use?
Is any of that use happening in an ambient temperature higher than 25-26C?

Not of this batch (Batch 10) but I definitely see high temperatures on the bottom after moderate use. Whenever I do a video call after a while the bottom gets hot, and I see on Vitals in GNOME that the CPU is hitting ~75-80c

WAYYYYY late here, but I had a family emergency that took me out of town for a month, so I didn’t get to set mine up until yesterday  Loving it so far! Keyboard is taking some getting used to, but loads better than the Dell its replacing. The one thing I had to laugh about was I only ordered 3 expansion cards, because I only needed 3, and there’s no “dummy” card included to fill the gap. No biggy, I happen to have a 3D printer & Framework have the card specs available, and someone had made an STL file available on Thingiverse, so while I played around on it last night, setting things up, my printer was spitting out the blank. A lil tight fitting, but it fit!

Got to agree with this: why don’t they make a dummy / blanking plate for the empty slots?

I guessing there’s a reason, but I just don’t know it…

I’d say most people will need at least 4 ports. A usb-port is 10€. Will it be economically to make a dummy for, say 5€< which still be bought 3 times?

They will not fill your pets with dummy pets as they can’t know how ports you already have at home to reuse. Those dummies would be trash in most cases

Yeah, that makes sense, you’re most likely going to have at least as many cards as ports, or quite possibly more. I could maybe see a use case for selling it as an option. I opted to save the $25 Cdn because I couldn’t remember the last time I plugged my laptop into an external display, and if I absolutely have to I have a USB-C dock anyways. Only reason I got 2 USB-C ports was so I could easily power it from either the right or left sides
