FW16 - Always show boot menu in UEFI bios possible?

Hi all,

I recently added a second SSD to my Framework 16, I now have;

  • WD PC SN8000S 512GB (which came with my framework laptop) running Windows 11
  • Kingston SNV3SM3 500GB running Ubuntu 26.04

Both disks have their own EFI system partition. To make the multiboot working, I can of course use Grub, but in that case, Grub needs to be aware of the encryption key for Windows.

Another option, that I would much more prefer, is that when I turn on the laptop, it boots in the boot device selection from the UEFI bios. It looks better, but also works better with harddrive encryption I discovered; with Grub I had some issues when booting up Windows.

Long story short; Is it possible with the Framework 16 to always show the boot menu before actually booting?

This is not directly answering your UEFI boot menu question, but may answer your issue in other way: Boot Windows 11 from GRUB Without BitLocker Recovery Key - Alex’s Piano Service LLC .

Turn off bitlocker since it really is not that secure in the first place with the simple exploits to bypass it’s encryption as of of late and use another secure enclave for whatever needs to be encrypted.

Then just boot to grub and pick from there.
