Hi everyone. I currently run a Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 12, which ships with a haptic touchpad made by Sensel, on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. I’m considering purchasing the new Laptop 13 Pro and have a few questions:
-
Who is responsible for firmware updates for the haptic touchpad - Framework or the touchpad vendor? As a reference point, I don’t believe any updates were released for my X1CG12.
-
What features are supported on Linux? In my experience, the haptic touchpad works fine, but Windows allows you to adjust the actuation pressure threshold, which doesn’t appear to be available on Ubuntu.
-
Which Linux distributions are supported? I’m not a Linux expert, but my understanding is that hardware support can be implemented at the distro level rather than in the kernel itself, meaning some distributions may support the haptic touchpad while others do not.
