Have you migrated from macOS?

I have a desktop with an Intel 12700 and 64GB of memory and a Macbook Max M1 with 32GB of memory, from my employer, I would like to get a personal laptop to not use my employer’s one and, if possible, get rid of the desktop as well to simplify my setup.

What I’m looking from this thread is to see the experience of others who have migrated from Macbooks to Framework, specially under Linux, which is my case.

I’m all in on everything Framework is doing, they are doing God’s work on this forsaken land. But I can’t also ignore the fact that Macbooks are way faster and they’ll be on the same price as well. Also, I’m having second thoughts on using Linux only.

Anyway, I’m kind of confused right now and looking for some advice.

What I’m finding, is that no single OS provides me with the resources or tools to perform all the tasks I wish. My main two systems are:
Framework 16 - 96G RAM, m.2 expansion bay. Windows 11 with WSL running NixOS and docker installed with nodered, for work. MacBook pro M4 with 32G RAM - dev work, entertainment, research, Msty.app and transformer lab. You’ll be hard pressed to put together a Linux laptop without an nvidia GPU that can do the work of your M1 Max with 32G RAM. I think the new AMD processors have the potential, but software for Linux is lagging behind.
