Figured I’d pop in here and let you all know that the 136 version of Firefox should have amdgpu hardware video decoding enabled on Linux:
Perhaps it may change some power usage data in a good way.

Since Firefox 137.0.0 ( now using 137.0.1 ) in Wayland mode, things seems to have improved a lot but it still happens
so I’m using Wayland by default again, which is good because KDE plans to stop support or development of Xwayland start with KDE 7
I have an AMD laptop 13 and was experiencing really high battery drain and CPU heat from Firefox, with btop showing battery drain at 25-30W. While most of this thread is older and not as relevant, using the suggestion about to check about:processes and found that a specific tab was racing at max (it was the dashboard for Netvisor). Once I closed that tab, I was seeing overall battery use more in the 10-13W range that others are reporting as being more normal. Wanted to drop this here since I wouldn’t have thought to check specific tabs/sites if not for checking about:processes.
I did a battery test a while back and I get better battery life with Brave
