How much Ram would you choose?

i3-1315u supports Up to DDR5 5200 MT/s; support for slower speeds is not unusual. I ordered RAM that can run at 5600, but not in this system.

I think that the recommendation is for RAM to run at 5200 out-of-the-box, and to avoid XMP, so wish me luckšŸ¤ž

I’ll get a 24GB module. That will be more than enough for web and basic image editing and videos and ebooks.

I haven’t ordered the ram or SSD yet, figure the prime day sales and counter-sales are a good time to order those, but I’m leaning towards 48gb…32 would probably be fine, but it’s not that much cheaper, and 64 would be nice, but it’s very doubtful it’s necessary, and it’s like $55 more, which seems excessive when I’ll probably never need it…especially when I’ve got 96gb in my FW13

I ordered a 64GB Kingston CSODIMM ram to try whether it will work on framework 12.

I bought 32GB, which should be plenty.

I bought

ā€œCrucial 64GB DDR5 RAM 5600MHz (or 5200MHz or 4800MHz) Laptop Memory, SODIMM 262-Pin, Compatible with Latest Intel Core Ultra and AMD Ryzen 8000 & Above – CT64G56C46S5ā€

and have had no issues with it on my Framework 12 so far.

Considering it’s a single stick on the i3 I just ordered a cheap 32GB 4800 stick off eBay, since it’s not going to be much different than the 5200 the platform is capped at anyway. Tested fine in my FW13.

My initial thought was to just get 8 GB to keep cost down and since that’s probably all I need right now. And if there were two slots, that’s what I would have done, and just put another 8 in when I needed it.
But considering it’s just one slot, I settled on 16 to prevent the 8 from becoming e-waste in a year or so. Been shopping around, but haven’t ordered yet.

Since it’s not in the official RAM list - can confirm, that Corsair 32 GB 5200MHz (CMSX32GX5M1A5200C44) works.

How about now?

I ended up using a 32G stick I had extra. Seems to work fine.
Type: DDR5
Type Detail: Synchronous
Speed: 4800 MT/s
Manufacturer: Gold Key Technology Co Ltd
Serial Number: 00000260
Asset Tag: 9876543210
Part Number: NMSO532F82-4800J

Configured Memory Speed: 4800 MT/s

I chose 24G and I wish I got more.

Working only with MATLAB Simulink and Python, i got the 16 GB. Seems fine

What can u do with 24? I’m wanting to get the 12 for school and i dont think 16 would be enough and 32 isn’t needed at the moment but seeing the little price difference im not sure which to choose
