I’ve been looking more into modular products and other items that are easy to repair by consumers. After doing research into modular phones, I learned about Phoneblok and Project Ara and am kinda mad that all that happened. There are other companies, like Fairphone, and others that are trying to pick up the mantle, but it seems like it’s a slow and struggling process. Do you think that this is something the fine people of Framework could do?

Ramping up this kind of product development takes years, and while I’d agree that it would be nice to see more activity in this segment, I wonder if FW need to concentrate on a few things and do them well, rather than spread themselves too thinly.
I have a Fairphone 4, and it is very good. The company isn’t turning a profit yet, but I am hoping they will survive; I dare say they have similar silicon availability/price problems to FW.

I agree with Squiggler. As much as I’d love to see and own a FW phone I would worry about them spreading themselves too thin. I was a little worried when they made the FW12 and especially the FW Desktop. Desktops are already modular and upgradable, and the one they made is less so with the RAM soldered. Luckily they seem to be doing ok with an update to the FW12 out for pre-order. They also updated the FW13 with the FW13 Pro. I expect they’ll have some issues to work out with that, but otherwise I think the FW13 is the only product they currently have that is well established. Everything else needs a little work. Once they get the other products to a level the FW13 is at then I’d say they could consider making a phone.
