I tried looking around for step-by-step guides on how to enable displaylink on the framework 12.
Plenty of resources available, but they all seem to go about it a different way

Some point to Releases · displaylink-rpm/displaylink-rpm · GitHub, some ask you to enable certain third party repos, some to just download and install it direct from above mentioned repo.

I’m fairly comfortable on debian based distros, but I’m a bit weary to blindly thrust repos unfamiliar to me.

TL;DR: Did any of you manage to get displaylink working and have a trusted repo/source for the packages needed? (I’m okay doing most of the leg work myself, just need a few pointer for where to start)

I landed here, hoping you had a solution - I got things working for Fedora 42, but since updating to 43 it’s crashed out on me again. I’m searching around now, so if I find something I’ll report back here and update

Displaylink is not open source. It is a binary blob. So, it is only going to work on the specific linux kernel version and distro version it is intended for.
It also encrypts its log files, so if it does not work, you won’t have a clue what went wrong.
So, probably best to avoid displaylink if you use linux.
