Is 2nd generation top cover the same as top cover in 13 pro?

Since the 2nd generation top cover is done by cnc already, I presume the 13 pro top cover is identical. Is this correct?

I believe the “Pro” top cover has additional support and a more rigid construction to support the touch panel.

They are afaik inter-compatible but not the same, at the very least the pro is anodized now vs whatever the surface treatment they did on the previous one was.

No, they are not identical but as @Adrian_Joachim said they are interchangeable. The most visually obvious difference is the Framework logo… the silver 13 pro top cover doesn’t have the black plastic logo insert (it has a engraved silver logo instead).

er, [citation needed]?

There is no indication of a separate silver Pro top cover existing on the store, on the blog, in the announcement video or anywhere else. There is especially no indication that such a cover departs from Framework’s established brand integration.

Love the full chest, no research reply. Less than a minute into the update video, they show off the silver 13 Pro with a clearly non-plastic insert top cover, or a really shiny color-matched plastic.

The new video seemed to show a top cover where the logo is metal, but i did not see an extra top cover in the store. Perhaps one possibility is that the “cnc top cover” part has been swapped to that of the 13 pro to streamline production?

Or that it is not in the store jet just like a bunch of other parts. Either way they said they aren’t selling the parts themselves before the full laptop batches are fulfilled.

This video also says that the CNC panel is reoptimized over the previous CNC panel and that it has a new wifi antenna (14:15).
