Is the Frame 16 case heat-dissipating?

Is the Frame 16 case heat-dissipating? I’m asking if the Frame 16 case dissipates heat like the MacBook case does. When I do heavy tasks like gaming or editing, the surface and bottom of the laptop generate a lot of heat, like a small heater. I was wondering if it was because the case is heat-dissipating or simply because the mercury in the case heats up.

I think there is a rule here against trolling.

To answer your question, yes the case does dissipate heat. Mine gets so hot on the bottom it burned my leg when I was wearing shorts once.

If you use the fan control app posted in the forums somewhere, you can have the fans always run at a low rpm until under 40C.

I find if I have even minimal fan speed, the chassis is actually extremely cool with no load. The standard fan curve seems to prioritize noise and shuts fans off for a good portion of the low temperature range. This leads to heat accumulating in the chassis even with no load.

There better not be any mercury in that case XD

The liquid metal that shipped in the original Framework 16 units was a mixture of elements like Gallium, Indium, and Tin to create an alloy that was solid at room temperature and only melted when the CPU began to heat up. If you are using a newer Framework 16 it will have come with a PTM 7950 TIM.

Either way you have no need to worry about any Mercury vapors.

I’m pretty sure OP was thinking of magnesium.
