I remember they mentioned in the presentation that the antenna had been redesigned, but I can’t seem to find anything to support this in the reviews. It is a bit surprising that I did not see it mentioned once.
I am trying to figure out if it makes sense to upgrade the top cover on my non-Pro laptop (when they start selling them, that is). Not that I have any bad issues with WiFi, but it does seem like the connectivity on my laptop is worse than on my other devices, so I would give the new antenna a try… if it actually is better.
I don’t see a separate part for a new 13 pro specific wifi antenna on the site.
If you are having connection issues on your framework 13 and wanna debug it, let me know what board u got, what wifi card, what os, etc. I can help improve the software side of wifi stuff.
In the same boat as you, the antenna/lid setup is just kinda bad. Performance is great short range but drops off a lot faster with distance than my other laptops. In it’s defense I have not tested it against other alu lid laptops so the plastic/composite lid in my x270 may have a massive advantage there.
Unfortunately as far as I can tell no, I have been keeping an eye on it too.
The new lid is also missing so that doesn’t say much. We have been told that this would come eventually but that was by pr people so who knows.
It’s not, it’s been listed since the beginning: https://frame.work/products/top-cover-cnc. But, interestingly, the listing does not say anything about the antenna being different.
Oh damn, you are right! I don’t know how I did not notice, but that explains it. It’s even more interesting then, given that, I think, all other upgrade parts are already listed .

If it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg I might get it just for the looks but I do hope the antennas are actually at least kinda better (not a high bar to clear).
Maybe it’s possible to buy extra thin antennas that are thinner than the height of the black foam. Then you can put them higher or even just below the webcam
