I was one who put down $11 back in May. With no updates since September, I asked Josh for a refund last month. 1-day later I had the money back.
I do hope Josh is able to complete the dual USB-C project and sell it. I’d definitely purchase.

how’d you get your refund
I emailed Josh at the address at the bottom of the Stripe email I got when I made the preorder. Said, “I’d like a refund. Here is my receipt number.” The next day (maybe it was two), I got an email from Stripe saying, “Your i2c Labs refund”. And Josh emailed me separately saying he had done it. No issues. No drama.
@Josh_Cook what are the remaining milestones to get to the point of shipping?
@Josh_Cook can you share some progress? I’ve payed for the modules many months ago and just want an update. You were last online one month ago. Should I ask for refund or wait?
Exactly. I don’t mind waiting. I know hardware projects are hard. I know about the planning fallacy. I know everything takes ten times longer than originally estimated. I get that. But I think it is fair to keep people updated, even if the update is “sorry, did not find time to work on this in the last half year”. That’s still better than radio silence.
@Josh_Cook can you give a response please?
Seems like Josh’s Reddit user is deleted, see this post.
Ouch, so that guy just cut and ran? I’ll admit it was a huge red flag for me when I found he had several projects going all at the same time, for what appeared to be just one person to handle. Glad I got my refund on this way early on.
I’m not jumping to many conclusions. You never know, it can always be some kinda health situation or other stuff outside a person’s control. But yeah, I’m probably not getting my hundred euros back…
I would not read that much into a deleted reddit account; there could be a number of reasons for that, which could be unrelated to Framework (eg, political reasons). He still has an account here. However, it does look like he stopped posting right at the end of last year (Dec 24th), and hasn’t logged in since the end of February.
With all that said: unless I’m very mistaken, I recall when reading these posts, that he was at the time in his mid-teens. His technical ability is impressive, but it may be that his ability to actual run a business selling these has become a considerable challenge; beyond simply the difficulty of learning how to do that, as someone who was also doing unusual things when I was a teenager, there are often societal, business, and legal challenges involved as a result of age. So I’m not enormously surprised if he’s not able to fulfil these, and at least for me, I would not be disappointed in him if he isn’t.
I was also under the impression he is studying at university, so that will be taking a considerable amount of his time.
When I saw the number of projects where he was putting his hand up to say ‘i can do that’ I did wonder how many would get to completion, especially the more complex ones like the modem.
You can contact your credit card provider and get back your money.
This is what I will probably do if don’t get any response soon.
you can write him a email at josh_cook@i2clabs.com.au
from the email you gave the preorder. he will refund you no questions asked!
He’s been ignoring my email for 2 months now
Too bad Framework themselves can’t pick this project up …
it’s entirely possible that Framework has a dual expansion card in the works.
the problem is that they aren’t very forthcoming with their plans.
