I saw Jsaux is having a sale on their portable monitors, and I was wondering if anyone here has tried using them with the Framework 16. I’m particularly interested in how well the size/rectangular shape lines up, and if the dGPU butt has a negative impact on compatibility.
I can’t relate to the one you have indicated. I us this one and works flawlessly if you connect it correctly. If you don’t plug it in the USB 4 then you will need to power the external display separately.
I know this answer is about a different one but the USB 4 is a consideration that I was not aware of and learned by trial and error so maybe that piece of info helps you.
My two cents, I’ll delete it if off-topic or unwanted, not trying to be a prick: these monitors areway, way overrated/overpriced.
I’m currently using a 80$ 15.6” FHD monitor from Aliexpress alongside my Framework 16. I paid it 50$ on discount.
Glued two very small smartphone holders on the short side to use it vertically. Single cable connection for power+video data. Not good for gaming, but for browsing/programming is super good enough. The rear dGPU port is perfect to send power&video to it (NB: stickers were added by me).
If I needed a 3rd screen on the move, I’d buy another. No way I’m shelling 400$ on two small monitors. Not when 100$ on Aliexpress would do the trick.
Mobility: it fits in the “tablet” compartment of my Osprey backpack.
I have an external USB-C connected screen that works great with Bluefin … except, when I plug it in, the fans spin up immediately.
Turns out the monitor has two USB-C connectors. As long as I plug the monitor into the wall, and charge+connect the computer through the monitor, everything stays quiet.
I’m now a big fan. Getting tempted to scatter extra screens around the house. Swing it out if I’m sitting at the couch, or the kitchen counter, or in bed … swing it back against the wall when I’m done.
