Kernel 7 is available on mint!

What feature are you needing the 7 kernel for? New kernel versions always come out so I don’t see the point for a whole post about one little version update.

Its probably pretty useful for non-framework users since the 90x0 series from AMD I remember having difficulties on the old 6.14 kernal mint was stuck on for a long time.

Mint being able to use wayland now is also kinda cool, but its more of a wait and see though.
If cinnamon/mint are able to march forward and get better at competing with KDE/gnome environments, that’s pretty cool. Options rock when they are all good options at least.

I know people who started moving away from mint previously once they discovered some of the possible security difficulties in X11 and its global string buffers.
Real question: Does mint finally have the option to disable primary paste?

I was using Linux Mint for decade,

but when I purchased FW 16 with new Ryzen platform I had to switch to Ubuntu as Mint was not supported out of the box and it had issues and freezes with display.

If all this is sorted with the next Mint version I might reconsider going back to it.

Newer hardware, I had been holding off on mint for my device and they weren’t supposed to release an update till December so I was going to hold off till then wanted to let others who may be waiting on such an update since Ubuntu 24.04 did not actually get a kernel 7.0 HWE but rather 7.0 was pack ported to mint 22.3.
