Laptop does not charge after replugging charger (after BIOS update)

Hi,

I recently updated the firmware of my Framework laptop to BIOS 04.05. Since then it won’t charge when I unplug and then replug the USB-C charger cable. I have to reboot the device to temporarily fix this.

  • OS: Linux, openSUSE Tumbleweed, kernel 7.1.8-1-default
  • Framework Laptop 16 AMD 7040 with dGPU
  • Charger: Standard Framework charger that came with the laptop

I’ve also tried it with Windows 11 (dual boot) and there the issue is the same.

I definitely did not have the issue before the BIOS update. How can I fix this or what additional info should I provide?

Kind regards

Ken makes a good point. Next I’d try the USB-C port in any of the other slots, and see if you get the same behaviour in all cases.

I have tried to examine the proposals in the link but I can’t reproduce the issue anymore. And I don’t know what has changed. For now the topic is stale.
