When I run memory-intensive (or sometimes GPU-intensive?) workloads, such as gaming or game development, and haven’t restarted my computer for a few days, I sometimes get a full crash. Power turns off, no logs, and I am beginning to suspect I screwed up the hardware somehow, but if anybody has software-related suggestions I would be much obliged. Or confirmation that yes, I’ve physically borked something.
This issue actually began on the 2025.04.01, with kernel version 6.13.something, in case that turns out to be relevant. It just happens more often now.
Check the temperatures while doing these tests.
And - try doing that with and old known to work kernel. 6.8.x under ubuntu wokrs very nicely at this time.

This would happen to me quite often before I replaced the liquid metal with something better.
I’ve begun logging temperature and haven’t had a problem since, though I have seen quite a few >95°C readings which I might want to do something about. Haven’t had to try any other kernels. So, while I strongly suspect that the “check the temperatures” bit of your advice wasn’t what you expected to solve the issue, it worked? so thanks???
Actually no, never mind, it’s happening again. Doesn’t seem to be temperature-related since it happened at <70° across the board. I’ll fiddle with the kernel version.
Are you using the batter extender feature of the bios? If so, do the crashes happen if you have it off?
I had it enabled; let’s see what happens when it’s disabled.
This seems to be the fix. Thanks!
